    Full tank from Horsham or Edenhope

    Radio:

    Equipment:

    Standard recovery equipment:  rated front and rear recovery points, snatch strap with rated shackles, shovel, air compressor, genuine off road biased AT or better tyres with at least 50% tread - including the spare.  

    Overnight:

    Base Camping at Lake Charlegrark.  Suitable for caravans, camper trailers etc.
    $40 per night powered site (2 people).
    $15 per person per night unpowered.
    U16 free otherwise $15 per extra adult.

    Details:

    Make a long weekend of the Anzac Day holiday and join us in Western Victoria.  There will be plenty of driving and exploring, but it's also a very social trip with happy hours, camp fires and maybe a pub meal at Goroke Hotel on one of the nights.

    We will kick off officially at 5pm on Anzac Day with happy hour at Lake Charlegrark camping ground (which has excellent facilities).

    Friday will be a full day drive in the central section of the Little Desert NP, bring all your food and drinks for the day.

    Saturday will be a half day drive in the Western section, followed by an optional visit to Nhill Aviation Museum.

    Sunday is a free day to do some more sightseeing yourselves or head for home.

    No dogs or firearms are allowed in the National Park.

    Details:

    Newbies are encouraged to join us for this nice little day trip out into the Rubicon State Forest for a picnic lunch up to a cattleman's hut rich in history. Keppel hut has been locked away behind gates for a few years and it's finally open for visitors. This trip is suitable for those camping at Yarck over the Anzac Day long weekend and want an activity to do on the Sunday before heading home or for those who wish to come up for a fun day trip .

    Details:

    We will be departing at 8.00am from the Hilton and meeting at the Yarck Pub at 8.30am sharp.  
    From the pub we will be heading to Mansfield and then up to Craig's Hut for lunch.
    Wet weather - Circuit Rd, dry weather could bring more 4WD tracks into play.
    After lunch head back to Yarck Pub.

    We'll arrive Friday evening with the trip to start bright and early on the Saturday. All meeting back in Jamieson for a meal together.  

    Sunday, we'll head to a different part of the high country in the search of snow.

    This is a perfect beginners and family friendly trip. Especially great for the young, or the young at heart!

    5 positions reserved for new members.

    Standard recovery equipment that includes:

    • closed front and rear recovery points
    • snatch strap with rated shackles
    • shovel, air compressor
    • genuine off road AT or better tyres with at least 50% tread - including the spare
    • well maintained and recently serviced vehicle

    We will probably cover up to 3500km over the trip

    Overnight:

    There will be 12 nights at 3 different stations in the Flinders with a couple of nights at showgrounds too  Allow an average of $40 per night.

    Details:

    We will meet up at Mundulla in South Australia near the border (just off the Western Hwy) and spend the night at the showgrounds.  The pub does a great meal too.

    Next morning, we will make our way into the southern Flinders Ranges for a 3 night stay at a station near Peterborough.  There will be a couple of days exploring 4WD tracks around the area, campfires and happy hours.  

    From there we will make our way into the central section for 4 nights at a 2nd station.  We will have 1 full day on Sky Trek, plus sightseeing tours of Blinman, various gorges, optional bush hikes etc.
     
    From there we head north to our 3rd station for a further 3 nights.  More 4WD tracks, ruins to explore and touring, plus campfires and did I mention happy hours?
    The final night of the trip will be at Melrose Showgrounds.  

    Allow $500 for accommodation, $1500 for fuel, $500 for 4wd tracks and other entry fees etc.  Your food and drinks on top of this of course.

    Ideally you can carry food etc for most of the trip because once we leave Peterborough there's no shops.

    We are taking an off road hybrid van that runs off solar and batteries.  Anything along those lines will be suitable.

    Applications will be open until  the end of January 2024 to allow people to organise leave etc.

    Meet the Yarck Fire Brigade on Saturday morning.

    Cook your lunch on an open fire - jaffles and scones.
    Learn about the importance of bugs, birds and trees.
    Children can choose a shrub, plant it in the garden with their name tag beside it and watch it grow.

    Join John Barkla and Alison Street for a fireside chat about their adventures and travels around Australia. John has been a club member for 32 years and is a past President of Birdlife Australia.

    Over the years, the Yarck Evergreen Group has increased flowering native plants around the Yarck Hilton, this is to encourage lots of bugs and lizards and skinks to feed the native birds.

    The Yarck Maintenance team has organised a system to ensure the bird bath is always full.
    Yarck has an amazing number of native birds,  if you know when and where to look.

    For the enthusiastic, John & Alison will lead an early morning birdwatching tour around Yarck.
