Details:
A Melbourne Cup weekend trip that covers the Robe / Beachport area through the Little Dip Conservation Park and Beachport National Park. This weekend is suitable for families and kids, caravans or campers as they will not be taken on the tracks. It’s a relaxed weekend where different members of the family can pick and choose participation. With a base camp set up at the Beachport Caravan Park the plan is to take day trips out on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday to explore the region and enjoy some of the best sand, beach and dune driving in Australia. Sand driving can be challenging as well as clean and fun. The sands in the SA’s South East vary from very soft to compact and with massive dunes and picturesque coast line that has something for everyone. Tide times will determine the plans for each day but we expect the program to run as follows: Fri - arrive at Beachport Caravan Park as per your booking with the caravan park Sat- 10am – Day tip exploring local tracks and beaches Sun - 9am start - Day trip – Beachport to Robe Mon - 9am start - Canunda National Park drive Tue -Lazy morning / pack up and travel home We will be out on the tracks for most lunches so you will need to be prepared. Each evening we return to base camp and prepare for the next day of while chatting around the camp fire (if allowed). You will have fun finding the correct tyre pressures, learning sand driving techniques and maybe gather some experience in basic vehicle recoveries. This is a great learning experience as well as enjoyable and safe. Suitable for beginner to intermediate members and their families. Not sure? - Check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEng-XFJowE I you would like to come apply as quickly as possible. We will review applications and will be organising a video call with all accepted participants in May so we can start to get to know each other and any questions can be answered or details clarified. A separate Facebook (FB) messenger group will be set up for future communications getting closer to the date.
